KS2 English will focus on a combination of both reading and writing. Reading will consist of reading the words by focusing on root words, prefixes and suffixes and learning to read aloud with confidence. We will focus on reading comprehension, where pupils will work on understanding what they have read by drawing inferences, identifying language and structure, learning to retrieve information, making predictions and discussion main themes. English writing will focus on spellings and the legibility of handwriting. We will also work on expanding vocabulary, improving grammar and punctuation. As well as writing composition, where a focus will be on word structure and creative writing skills.
